DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Mattress Founder

I’m super excited about now’s review since I’ll be taking a look at one of this newest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.

This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils for a sleeping experience that promises to be as luxurious as it is supportive.

To determine how well this hybrid lives up to this goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall relaxation and determine what sort of sleeper would benefit from it most.

Read below for my full review of the DreamCloud mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress FounderDreamcloud-mattress-top

CONSTRUCTION

The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress in a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer construction is broken down into foam and wrapped coil components , which operate in tandem to provide the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfy pressure relief.

Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact together.

Cover: The cover is written of a cashmere and polyester blend for a soft feel up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which supplies the sleeper with instant pressure relief.

Foam Layers: Below the cover, you will locate three thin layers of foam. When those segments are soft to the touch and supply some satisfying sinkage, they also respond quickly to pressure, so you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.

The middle of the three layers is particularly significant for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these small ventilations promotes even more cooling.

These individually wrapped springs give that the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.

The coils also help in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for constant air flow.

Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies at the underside of the mattress, with all the main function of cradling the pocketed coils and providing a solid base for the entire .

FIRMNESS

After taking a look at the construction of this DreamCloud, let’s chat concerning the firmness and texture.

I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.

My hand sunk to the material and I could feel some instant pressure relief. Pushing in farther, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a nicelift from the springs.

At this time I’d love to recall that people of different body shapes and types will feel firmness differently.

Rather than giving just my opinion on the overall firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three other people to give their opinion as well.

DreamCloud-Firmness-Test

Personally, I gave the bed a 7.5 and agree with the rest of the testers that it’s definitely a strong bed.

While you will feel some slight sinking from the plush foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel as if you are sleeping on top of the mattress. Dreamcloud Mattress Founder

PRESSURE MAP

Rather than simply describing the feel of this DreamCloud for you, I wished to supply a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points contour while lying on it.

To do this, I put a pressure map in addition to the mattress and lied on my backside, and tummy. You can see the effects on the picture under where pressure is represented from blue (low pressure) to red (high pressure).

Back: Once in my back, my weight was evenly dispersed throughout the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking to the mattress whatsoever .

The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.

Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I started to sense pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks.

However, I still felt supported and the top foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this position.

Stomach: Switching over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress, which is key for stomach sleepers.

I have to mention that I managed to transition across these places with comparative ease. Dreamcloud Mattress Founder

MOTION TRANSFER

Should you intend on sharing your bed with a partner , you will want to know what it will feel like when another person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.

This next test is meant to demonstrate that the high level of motion that is detectable from 1 side of the mattress to another.

To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 lb. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the bigger the lines, the bigger the disturbance. Dreamcloud-Motion-Transfer-test

The DreamCloud indicates a little amount of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the contrary side of the mattress.

While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly larger spikes, I Had nevertheless consider the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement , as a result of its individually wrapped coils.

This means that you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your bed spouse’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.

SINKAGE TEST

When buying a new mattress , many people want to know whether they will feel like they’re sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.

To picture this sinkage, I put four chunks of varying sizes and densities (a 6 pound medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 pound medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how much they compressed the surface.

The variations in size, density and weight are supposed to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.

  • 6 lb medicine ball: 1.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
  • 50 pound medicine ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
  • 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.

As you are likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you may hit the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.

This combo will allure to a broad assortment of sleepers, but will suit back and stomach sleepers especially . Dreamcloud Mattress Founder

EDGE SUPPORT

If you’re going to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is going to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.

I’m especially interested to see whether the DreamCloud will endure the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses that neglect to live up to the border support of more conventional innerspring models.Lying on my spine, I felt supported in the edge of the bed as I did at the middle .

Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the highest foam layers, but nothing too dramatic. Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it didn’t carry over to the wrapped coil system below.

This system, together with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. In this position, I wanted to simulate what it would feel like to be sitting on the bed in the morning when you’re lacing up your shoes and getting ready for the day. A good deal of foam mattresses experience intense compression in this position, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
