DreamCloud Mattress Review Dreamcloud Firmness
I’m super excited about today’s review since I’ll be taking check out one of this latest beds on the market: the DreamCloud hybrid mattress.Dreamcloud Firmness
This bad boy unites high-density foam with encased coils to get a sleeping experience that promises to be lavish as it’s supportive.
To see how well this hybrid lives up to that goal, I’ve put it through a series of tests to measure its overall comfort and determine what kind of sleeper would benefit from it most.
Read below for my full review of this DreamCloud mattress.
CONSTRUCTION
The DreamCloud features an astoundingly tall profile to get a mattress at a whopping 15 inches. The eight-layer structure is broken down into foam and wrapped coil parts , which operate in tandem to supply the sleeper with a firm innerspring lift and lots of comfortable pressure relief.
Given all the distinct materials at play here, I am stoked to dive into these layers to see how well they interact with one another.
Cover: The cover is made up of a cashmere and polyester blend for a luxuriously soft texture up top. Additionally, it is quilted with memory foam, which provides the sleeper with instant pressure relief.
Foam Layers: Below the cover, you’ll find three thin layers of foam. When these sections are soft to the touch and provide some pleasing sinkage, they also react quickly to pressure, so that you won’t feel stuck in the mattress.
The middle of the three layers is especially important for the temperature regulation of the DreamCloud as it is comprised of perforated latex foam. Latex in general is great at dissipating heat, so the inclusion of these little ventilations supports even more cooling.
These individually wrapped springs provide the mattress excellent bounce and help to disperse motion throughout the structure.
The coils also assist in regulating temperature as the distances between them allow for steady air flow.
Foundation Layer: A thin coating of high-density polyfoam lies in the underside of the mattress, with all the most important use of cradling the pocketed coils and giving a solid foundation for the entire .

FIRMNESS
After taking a look at the building of this DreamCloud, let’s chat concerning the firmness and feel.
I started off by applying light hand pressure to the mattress and immediately felt the soft foam of the quilted cover and top layers.
My hand sunk to the material and I could feel some instantaneous pressure relief. Pushing in further, I began to interact with the pocketed coils experienced a pleasantlift from springs.
At this point I’d like to note that individuals of different body shapes and types will feel firmness otherwise.
Rather than giving only my view on the general firmness level of the DreamCloud, I enlisted three others to present their opinion also.
This will give you a better awareness of the firmness range you can expect from the mattress.
I gave the bed a 7.5 and concur with the remainder of the testers that it’s definitely a good bed.
As you will feel some slight sinking from the lavish foam top layers, the individually wrapped coils in the center will lift you from this bed and make you feel like you’re sleeping on top of the mattress. Dreamcloud Firmness
Instead of just describing the sense of this DreamCloud into you, I wished to provide a visual representation of where someone may feel pressure points form while lying on it.
To do so, I put a pressure map on top of the mattress and lied on my backside, and stomach.
Back: Once in my spine, my weight was evenly dispersed during the mattress, so I did not feel like I was sinking to the bed whatsoever.
The quilted cover supplied quality relief in my lumbar area and the pocketed coils helped to lift me from the mattress and keep my spine in alignment.
Side: As you can see in the graph above, after I rolled onto my side, I began to feel pressure forming at my shoulders and buttocks.
However, I felt encouraged and the very best foam layers relieved what discomfort I felt in this place.
Stomach: Shifting over to my stomach, I thought the DreamCloud did a excellent job of lifting my hips up and from the mattress , which is key for stomach sleepers.
I should mention that I was able to transition across these places with comparative ease. Dreamcloud Firmness
THE MATTRESS WITH A 365 NIGHT TRIAL & FOREVER WARRANTY
If you intend on sharing your bed with a partner , you may want to know what it will feel like when the other person crawls out of bed in the morning or tosses around during the night.
This second test is meant to demonstrate that the high level of movement that’s detectable from one side of the mattress into another.
To illustrate this motion transfer, I dropped a 10 pounds. Steel ball from peaks of 4 inches, 8 inches and 12 inches and measured the disturbance it caused: the larger the lines, the bigger the disturbance.
The DreamCloud indicates a little bit of disturbance for the 4 inch drop, which simulates someone rolling around and adjusting their position on the other side of the mattress .
While the 8 and 12 inch drops reveal slightly bigger spikes, I would still look at the mattress to be quite good at isolating movement, as a consequence of its individually wrapped coils.
This means you’re not likely to be overly disturbed by your mattress mate’s midnight shimmies, which makes this a great alternative for couples.
SINKAGE TEST
When buying a new mattress, most people want to know whether they will feel like they are sinking”into” the mattress or laying”on top” of it.
To picture this sinkage, I put four balls of varying sizes and densities (a 6 lb medicine ball, a 10 pound steel ball, a 50 pound medicine ball, and a 100 lb medicine ball) on the mattress and measured how far they compressed the surface.
The variations in size, weight and density are meant to simulate different body parts and different sized sleepers.
- 10 pound steel ball: 2 inches of sinkage.
- 50 lb medication ball: 4.5 inches of sinkage.
- 100 pound medication ball: 5.5 inches of sinkage.
As you’re likely to experience some instant sinkage from the soft foam on top, by the time you sink through these layers, you will hit on the wrapped coils and texture fantastic support.
This combo will appeal to a broad range of sleepers, but will satisfy back and stomach sleepers particularly. Dreamcloud Firmness
EDGE SUPPORT
If you are likely to share your bed with a spouse and need to use the whole surface area of the mattress, it is likely to be crucial that you consider the amount of edge support it will provide.
I’m particularly interested to see if the DreamCloud will suffer the exact same fate as other compressed bed-in-a-box mattresses which neglect to meet the border support of more traditional innerspring models.Lying on my back, I sensed supported at the edge of the mattress as I did in the center.
Pressing closer to the side, I experienced a small compression due to the top foam layers, but nothing overly dramatic. Changing to my side, I once again noticed compression at the foam layers, but it did not carry over to the wrapped coil system under.
This system, along with the polyfoam border support round the mattress, did a excellent job of supporting my weight. A lot of foam mattresses experience severe compression in this place, but the DreamCloud actually held up fairly well.
